Markets in the park this autumn and winter
Beckenham Place Park is a significant asset to the community. Not only is it a nature haven that nurtures biodiversity, as well as people’s mental and physical wellbeing and education, but its historical buildings also offer an opportunity to welcome small businesses.
One of Lewisham Council’s priorities as part of post-Covid-19 recovery is to support small businesses and the local economy. The response we get to markets in the park has been very positive. These are the markets you can expect to see in the park in October, November and December...
Thursdays mini market
The Homestead courtyard is such a hub of activity on any given day, and given the warm welcome received by Eddie’s dog treats shop we decided to invite two other traders to the courtyard on Thursdays until the 23rd of December.
A Piece of Kent
A Piece of Kent was started by Dorcas, a local resident, descendant from a long line of local residents, last summer. She curates a selection of products from local producers based in Kent only.
Opening hours: Thursdays 10am-4pm
Kirsty’s reading world – Usborne bookseller
Kirsty, a single mum from Downham also started trading as an Usborne bookseller this summer. Expect a selection of books for children and young adults, with plenty of choice for preschoolers and their carers.

Borne to read – Usborne bookseller

Book Love – the travelling multicultural carnival
Book Love specialises in selling multicultural anti-racist books. Their selection is fantastic and they will take up residence in the courtyard during half term, including Thursday the 25th of October. Read more about Book Love's half term residency here.
Eddie’s Dog Treats Shop
All the above traders can be found alongside John and Danielle who will be there most days to cater for your dog’s needs. Learn more about them here
Opening hours: 8am-4pm
Please note, all the above is subject to weather conditions. In the event of extreme weather, there will be no market. Books are especially vulnerable to wet weather so if a rainy day is forecast the booksellers will not be trading on that day.
Makers market
Our friends from the Homestead Café organised a monthly makers market: Local Makers Market | The Homestead Cafe.
The dates are the 13th November and 11th December, 10am to 4pm
Vintage market
So Last Century, the vintage fair will be back on the 30th October and 12th December. Around 30 stalls of purely vintage items inside and outside the Mansion. And of course, Verso Vintage is open weekly in the Mansion’s basement.
Sustainable shopping
When selecting businesses to operate from the park we always consider their sustainability in relation to the environment.
We’re also pleased that Wasteless Market is back at the Mansion on 27th November. Learn all about it
Other businesses
While you’re here, why not check out the businesses that operate from the Mansion?
