VOLUNTEERING
The Beckenham Place Park Community Gardeners: Our dedicated group of volunteers undertake a wide variety of activities ranging from gardening to woodland management and from upcycling old pallets to helping out at events in the park.
Sessions run on Tuesdays Wednesdays & Fridays each week for 2-3 hours depending on the season under the supervision on one of the park staff.
We try to offer a range of tasks at each session so that volunteers can undertake ones that suit their abilities. Weekday volunteering sessions are only suitable for over 16 year olds.
Once a month we run a weekend session which children under 16 years may attend but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. It usually takes place on the last Saturday 10:30am-1:30pm.
There is also a group who work more independently and focus on the Sensory Garden area, they meet on Thursday mornings and some Saturdays.
Most volunteering sessions start at Gardener’s Cottage, our dedicated Volunteers’ Hub, and the sessions are friendly and welcoming to all.
You must contact us and register before attending a volunteering session.
Currently the volunteering programme here is quite full so there is a wait to join, however we do occasionally have one off volunteer events. If you would like to be added to the call out list for these events or be added to the waiting list for regular volunteering sessions then please email bppvolunteers@lewisham.gov.uk
Please note: these volunteering sessions are extremely popular and there may be a waiting list for your preferred day.
Thames21 is working in partnership to deliver a community engagement volunteer programme of river and wetland enhancement activities, to enable and empower local individuals and communities to manage their blue-green spaces better. This is around the River Ravensbourne and it’s corridor through the park.
More information on it can be found here or by contacting Thames21 at BPPriver@thames21.org.uk
BPP parkrun or BPP junior parkrun, also have volunteering opportunities available.
