A View From the Field - by Ranger James
Last week Lewisham Homes transferred a pool electric cargo bike to the park for use by staff and I’ve been getting used to riding it round the park, including taking it to the Bellingham Festival on Saturday using it as a display to promote the park.
The volunteers have been working hard assisting the grounds team tidying up areas of the park in advance of a visit from the London in Bloom judges next week.
This week following advice from London Fire Brigade we’ve moved to a position of no barbeques anywhere in the park (including the dedicated bbq area) this will be in place until further notice. It is to protect the wonderful natural habitats we have here and also the wider community by needing to use less water in dealing with them.
Keep an eye out for: Dragonflies and Damselflies which have been quite active recently round all the water bodies. Especially the impressive Azure Hawker!
