New rain garden
In conjunction with resurfacing work at the northern end of Old Bromley Road, two rain gardens with trees and a garden to make the street greener and more resilient to flooding are being installed on Old Bromley Road.
The works are due to commence this week, January 2024, weather dependent, with anticipated duration of work of approximately three weeks.
These improvements are part of the wider project to complete the restoration of the eastern side of Beckenham Place Park and better link the park to surrounding communities, including a green link along Old Bromley Road between Beckenham Place Park and the Downham Woodland Walk.
We will be reaching out to local communities to seek involvement in planting and care of the new gardens on Old Bromley Road and using this as an opportunity to promote volunteering in Beckenham Place Park.
The current resurfacing of this stretch of highway at the northern end of Old Bromley Road provides a good opportunity to deliver this first phase of gardens and planting. A further phase of rain gardens, street gardens and tree planting along Old Bromley Road toward the park entrance will take place later in the year.
