Definite Chocolate make artisan chocolate using ethically-sourced cacao. We make all our products in the Dominican Republic using the highest quality locally-sourced ingredients. We partner with cacao producers to develop their skills and pay over market-rate for the cacao we buy

What can BPP visitors find in your stall?

Award-winning chocolate bars (10 varieties), cacao tea, drinking chocolates, smaller ‘snack’ bars and napolitain squares

Ethical

What is your most popular product?

Our 70% Cassava bar. We are the only chocolate maker using cassava (a root vegetable) as inclusion in chocolate, and it provides a delicious texture and crunch, complemented with salt, to deliver a fantastic experience

Do you have any underappreciated products you’d like to champion?

Our spiced drinking chocolate with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger is packed with flavour and aroma. Mix with your choice of milk for a delicious warming drink

Tell us about your efforts to make your business eco-friendly

We hate waste – we even use the husks of the cacao beans to make our cacao tea. Cacao tea is made from the husks of the beans and is a traditional drink in the Caribbean. Drunk with or without milk, it is a refreshing low-caffeine alternative to tea or coffee. We are working on sourcing all our packaging from recyclable or compostable materials and expect to phase out all single-use plastics by mid-2023

Can you share a fact about you that most people don’t know about? 

Our company is a small, family-owned company in the Dominican Republic which was the first country to export cacao as a cash-crop. Much of the world’s finest cacao beans are sourced from the Dominican Republic, a result of its unique soils and geography
