East side improvements update

Over the course of 2023 and 2024 Lewisham Council is improving the east side of Beckenham Place Park

on the Downham side of the railway line. We apologise for any inconvenience the work may cause.

Temporary closures

The playground will be closed for a period whilst the new play facilities are being built.

Occasional pathway suspensions and diversions will be required during the works.

Improvements

A brief reminder of the improvements expected post work:

● New playground and multi-use game area

● Extensive new landscaping, new planting and tree planting

● Improvements to the river corridor, new wildlife-rich pond and

large spaces to accommodate stormwater to reduce flood risk

● New and improved footpaths, new cycling trail and outdoor gym

● Welcoming main entrances from Old Bromley Road and Beckenham Hill Road

● Volunteering and training opportunities for local people
