East side development update

Lewisham’s Planning Committee met on Thursday 21 July and planning permission has been granted for work on the East side of the park. This is very good news for Beckenham Place Park and for the residents and businesses of Downham and Bellingham who will benefit immensely from improvements to the part of the park closest to them. 

Over £2 million has been secured from the Environment Agency and Mayor of London for these improvements and Lewisham Council is contributing a further £1 million. The main improvement works are due to begin in early 2023, with some prior enabling works taking place over the winter.  A volunteering programme is planned to start in autumn 2022.
