Flower Show
The flower show this year is judged by a wonderful team of experts who have given up their time to judge:
Flower and plant categories - Michelle Brandon (horticultural therapist) and Cllr Amanda De Ryk (local councillor and garden expert)
Fruit and vegetable categories - Katy Delaney (Allotment expert and member of Lewisham ‘s parks team) and Flo Headlam (local resident and TV garden expert)
Craft Categories - Jane Doxey (Director of Know How You Sewing School in the mansion) and Marina Beard (mansion resident artist and art educator)
There are 12 categories for flowers, fruit & vegetables and crafts, plus 6 categories for children. Visit the exhibition in the Education Room (in the Homestead Courtyard) to see the wonderful exhibits. The prizes will be awarded at 1:30pm behind the Mansion.
Art Exhibition, “Parks and Gardens”
This is the 5th art exhibition (as there was an online only version during lockdown). This year’s is in three rooms on the ground floor of the Mansion and online. It is organised entirely by volunteers.
Work includes painting, printmaking, photography and more as well as a small number of Makers showing glass, ceramics and other items. There will also be cards and unframed work. All work is for sale and cash, debit and credit card payments are all accepted.
Dog Show
The volunteer dog show judges for 2022 are: Cllr Louise Krupski, Cllr Oana Olaru, Cllr Jacq Paschoud, Cllr Amanda De Ryk. The compere this year is Steven Kynman (whose voice you might recognise if you watch Fireman Sam…)
The dog show categories, in order, are:
Kids’ Best Friend (child handler)
Waggiest Tail
Golden Oldie
Cutest Puppy
Best Rescue
Best Family Resemblance
Hey Good Looking
Facially Challenged
There will be a short break half way through for a presentation by Guide Dogs for the Blind. We expect each category to last approximately 10 minutes.
Dog show registration is open on Saturday all day (at Eddie’s Dog Shop) and from 10am - 2pm by the dog ring on the day of the event. We recommend registering early as the show is usually very popular and spaces are limited in each category. The dog show is entirely run by volunteers.
