It is such a simple concept: turn up at 9am every Saturday and walk, jog or run 5k. That’s parkrun in a nutshell. There are parkrun events all over the world. The Beckenham Place Park course is one lap taking in parkland, woodland and both sides of the railway. It starts in front of the mansion. It doesn’t matter how fast you go. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. What matters is taking part. It is a good way to meet like- minded local people whilst doing something healthy. You can find out more details, including how to register (for free) here. The course is marked by yellow markers on the park’s signposts so you can also run, jog or walk the route in your own time at other times in the week. All parkrun events are run entirely by volunteers and there is the opportunity to get involved in that side of things too.
